Why did abandoned playground equipment found a new home?
You will see outdoor playground equipment including combined slide, basketball court, benches and activities place for people exercising in the Veterans Memorial/ Lawrence H. McKinney Park.
This is a great gift for the people of Saginaw for the coming Christmas and everyone can play the playground equipment.
Longstreet Elementary school was closed in 2003, and another Webber school was closed in 2009. Project Unify tries to move the playground equipment from these closed schools to public parks where every citizen can enjoy it. Project unify is devoted to restoration of public parks.
"We noticed schools were being closed and playground equipment was being abandoned," Boulware said. Although there are many public parks, most of them lack free entertainment facilities because of lacking money or other reasons.
"We felt it would be of better use at the parks."
We need move playground equipment from the the former Webber Elementary School to Veterans Memorial/ Lawrence H. McKinney Park. It was a very long journey.
In this Tuesday, workers were busy disassembling the equipment on the school ground.
And thanks to the city government help, they give us so much help during last 5 yeas that we can move playground equipment successfully. Boulward said at last.
If they said "no", it would become very hard to migrate playground equipment from closed schools.
"One thing I will always do is working hard for the Project Unify.” She said.
